Plot summary

There was nothing in their backgrounds that would suggest that the introverted art student, Spencer Reinhard, and his rebellious best friend, Warren Lipka, would have the guts to attempt and execute one of the most audacious art heists in US history with the help of partners-in-crime, Eric Borsuk and Chas Allen. Driven by the need to spice up their dull, predictable, and ordinary lives in Lexington, Kentucky, and in the process, make millions, the quartet of amateur robbers summons up the courage to break into the library of Transylvania University to steal a rare first edition of John James Audubon's Birds of America, and once there, throw in Charles Darwin's scientific theory, On the Origin of Species. However, lacking resources and previous experience, the boys' make-or-break scheme is on a collision course with disaster.—Nick Riganas
