YIFY is a large network comprising numerous movie and TV fan communities, each committed to compiling and organizing knowledge about subjects they cherish. In most instances, the content posted by our users is entirely original and created by them. On occasion, however, a community may include content that is not directly created by its members. To comply with YIFY’s Terms of Use, such material must respect third-party intellectual property rights. This means that non-original content is only allowed on YIFY if it has been licensed appropriately, is in the public domain, or is used under the principles of fair use according to U.S. law.

When content is uploaded without the necessary permissions, or when it infringes on the intellectual property rights of others, YIFY. adheres to the takedown procedures of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). What is the DMCA?

What is the DMCA?

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is a federal law in the U.S. aimed at resolving copyright disputes online. It provides a system that allows copyright holders to report infringements to the platform hosting the infringing material. If the hosting platform or Internet Service Provider (ISP) receives a valid DMCA Takedown Notice and takes action to remove the infringing content, they are eligible for “safe harbor” protections, which exempt them from liability for their users’ actions.

DMCA Process

Filing DMCA Takedown Notices

If you believe your copyrighted content has been used on YIFY without your authorization, you can file a DMCA takedown notice. Your notice must contain the following information, either from you or from your representative:

  • Your full name, mailing address, phone number, and email address;
  • A physical or electronic signature;
  • A description or a link to your copyrighted work that is being infringed;
  • A link to the allegedly infringing content on YIFY;
  • A statement affirming your good faith belief that the use of the content is unauthorized by the copyright owner, agent, or law;
  • A declaration that the information in the notice is accurate;
  • A statement under penalty of perjury confirming that you are the copyright holder or are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

We suggest using our DMCA request form, choosing “I have a copyright or trademark issue” from the dropdown menu to simplify the submission process. This form allows you to submit the required information directly to YIFY.

If you prefer to send the notice via email, you may send it to copyright@gmail.com.

The information you provide in the takedown notice will be shared with relevant parties, including the administrators of the affected wiki, the user who posted the allegedly infringing material, and the Lumen database.

Upon receipt of a valid takedown notice, YIFY. will remove the infringing content. The community where the content was deleted will be notified, typically through an edit or deletion summary, explaining why the content was removed. A link to this page will also be provided, giving them information about how they can file a counter-notice.

It is the responsibility of the copyright holder or their representative to submit a full and complete takedown notice. YIFY. cannot provide assistance in drafting these notices. We recommend consulting with legal counsel if you have any questions about the process. Incomplete or invalid notices will not be accepted.

If a user account accumulates three (3) DMCA takedown notices, YIFY. reserves the right to disable the account under our repeat infringer policy. Takedown notices that result in restored content due to a successful counter-notice will not be counted toward the three strikes.

Submitting a Counter-Notice

If you believe that content removed from YIFY under a DMCA notice was done so in error, or if you have the right to use the material, you can submit a counter-notice.

A valid counter-notice must contain the following information:

  • Your name, address, and phone number;
  • A physical or electronic signature;
  • A statement under penalty of perjury declaring that you have a good faith belief that the content was removed due to mistake or misidentification;
  • A statement confirming that you consent to the jurisdiction of the United States Federal District Court (or any applicable court, if you are located outside the U.S.);
  • A statement that you agree to accept legal service from the copyright holder or their agent.

You may send the counter-notice to copyright@gmail.com

Upon receiving the counter-notice. will notify the copyright holder. They will then have two weeks to initiate legal action. If no lawsuit is filed within that time, YIFY will restore the content.

Please be aware that YIFY cannot provide legal advice on filing counter-notices. A counter-notice could lead to litigation, and knowingly submitting false information in the notice may result in liability. Before submitting a counter-notice, you should fully understand the risks involved.
